Since the verb is ‘lähteä’ I assume the meaning is ‘to go out for dinner’, and not just ‘have dinner’.

yah that’s a more specific and therefore better match. (“have dinner” could be eating out together or eating in together; the latter of which doesn’t match lähteä.)
