Ha battuto la testa.

English Translation

He banged his head.

Would colpito work here?

Ciao @morbrorper Sì, mi associo, penso;-) I tend to think of “battuto” as *beaten and “colpito” as Tom *hit Mary! (ahia!)

Hi @morbrorper, good guess… but this time it does not really work.

“Ha colpito la testa” suggest that someone (or something) hit the head of someone else.

“Ha battuto la testa” (also “sbattuto”) means that the subject hit something with his head, unintentionally.

Both “colpire” and “bàttere” mean “to hit” but each has its own specialized use.

The best explanation I’ve read on the difference. Many thanks!
