Explain Button for Custom Sentences

It would be nice if you could add the explain button for custom senteces too.

It would be great to get that AI linkage. As a workaround:
What I’ve done is to create a new collection, then search the provided collections for an instance of the cloze word I want to study (from each sentence in my list). You can search by the base or target language, preferable the TL in a Cloze. Then add it to your new collection. Coming from an established collection, the AI explain will come along with it.

Hi, I tried it out, but the AI Explain button does not show up. I have addes to my new collection existing clozemaster phrases

I tried doing what I’ve done before, as I described above, but I couldn’t validate it. In fact, I see that it doesn’t include the valuable Explain feature, even when I select a search result that was found in the Fluency Fasttrack collection.
However, If I go through a Fast track study session, then after selecting an answer, there is a ‘+’ which really DOES add it to your collection. But that is NOT what we want. We want NEW, custom words to associate with the Explain feature.
Maybe a moderator can comment on some method…

Why don’t you simply paste your sentence into the ChatGPT website yourself, provided you’re on a computer and not in a mobile app?

Yes, it’s a few steps more than having a one-button-solution integrated into Clozemaster. But:

Clozemaster uses a variant of ChatGPT that costs money. Those costs are accounted for in the Clozemaster Pro subscription. Since the 10,000 (or whatever) Clozemaster sentences are the same for every Clozemaster user and because every Clozemaster user has access to those sentences, it’s fair to distribute the ChatGPT costs over all Clozemaster users.

In comparison: If a single user uploads, say, 50,000 custom sentences that only that single user may access, and if that one user runs all of his/her 50,000 sentences through ChatGPT, then why should I or any other Clozemaster user pay for another Clozemaster user’s excessive ChatGPT usage? Why should I or anyone else chip in and pay the cost accrued by some inconsiderate power users? Distributing those costs across all Clozemaster users (as part of their subscription) wouldn’t be fair anymore.

This issue can be easily addressed buy allowing buying cresits. See the hyper text plugin in anki.
It really works well and it would be another source of income for clozemaster.

But, please make it a credit for character used not a subscription.

They could also add translation too in addition to voices.

Another option is to download an AI app that is free. I use ChatGPT also.

The ChatGPT app is easy to tailor to get the types of answers that you like. Even my friends that pay for other AI programs are impressed what I can get for free. Once I tailored the ChatGPT app, the answers are perfect for me, the type of learner that I am, and the kinds of things that I like to know about the sentence.

I also like using the app because switching to another app is easier for me than switching to another webpage (not sure why).

Thank you for explaining this. You have said something about this before but I understand it better now.
