I think klettern is intransitive, so it doesn’t fit here, as Berg is in Akkusativ, without the appropriate preposition.
As for erklimmern, gramatically it seems to fit. The dictionnary mentions it having an implication of the climb being difficult, so there’s that to keep in mind
