It would’ve been better if we hadn’t done that.

Aren’t we missing a word in the German sentence? I would have expected “Es wäre besser gewesen, wenn wir das nicht getan hätten”

You sentence is just as good, but the shortage is common in wrting and speaking.
I personally perceive the shorter form as more elegant.
