It brought me down to earth.
I don’t really like this translation, I feel it needs to include the word ‘facts’ in some way, even if it becomes a little more literal.

You are right, but
“It brought me back to the fundament of facts” ???
The art of translation is the decision between the literal and the elegant.
Here, even the “it brought me …” is,well, more on the literal side.

“It brought me back to the facts” maybe? Personally, I don’t mind clozemaster’s translation here, although we’re missing “zurück”… “it brought me back down to Earth.”
