You are right and btw, I never heard the expression “betrunken wie ein Wildschwein” before.
Similar and more common expressions:
“voll wie eine (Strand)haubitze”

I’m more confused by the English than the German here. “Drunk as a mouse” is not something I’ve ever heard, and google isn’t showing much for it either. This one is strange.
