Why is the verb ser used in this sentence and not estar?
Because in Catalan the verb used to say that you are in a place is the verb ser/ésser. In Spanish, the verb estar is used instead.F.e:
Catalan.- Sóc a Roma.
Spanish.- Estoy en Roma.
