I’m curious about how to say this in the plural, with the same degree of formality.

My instinct tells me to say “Sono stati avvertiti…”, but it seems we don’t have any sentences using that pattern, only “Siete stati …”, which looks informal to me.

I would say the same, morbrorper, and it could be that the sono stati is sufficiently formal. I can’t think how else it could be written.
