You left me standing alone here on this road a long, long time ago.

Is the suggested English translation accurate? This sounds more like “you left me standing on this street for a long, long time”. If you wanted to say “ago”, i.e. it happened long in the past, then shouldn’t it be “Du hast mich allein hier stehen lassen vor einer langen, langen Zeit auf dieser Straße”?

Absolutely right. Your translation is the correct one, the official one is wrong.

“vor langer, langer Zeit” also works.

But what struck me immediately was the weird word order.

This seems much more natural:
Du hast mich eine lange lange Zeit allein hier auf dieser Straße stehen lassen.
