Die Quelle des Nil befindet sich in Uganda.

English Translation

The source of the Nile River is in Uganda.

I think it should be “Nils”…

According to the “Duden” both forms of the Genitiv with and without the “s” are correct.

What’s the Duden? I’m guessing an official German source. Is it considered correct because it’s a proper noun (the name of a river)?

Good to know. Thanks…

From Wikipedia:

The Duden is a dictionary of the Standard High German language, first published by Konrad Duden in 1880, and later by Bibliographisches Institut GmbH which was merged into Cornelsen Verlag in 2022.

The Duden is updated regularly with new editions appearing every four or five years. As of December 2024, it is in its 29th edition. It is printed as twelve volumes, with each volume covering different aspects of the German language such as loanwords, etymology, pronunciation, synonyms, etc.

In Italian you go to Treccani. In German you go to Duden if you want something authoritative about the language.
