Once upon a time lived a king who had three daughters.
The “lived” is throwing me a bit (in transcribe mode). Does this just not mean “once up a time there WAS…”? Only a minor, subtle change but when you are trying to remember a sentence, to transcribe, it can be tricky if you are thinking “I didn’t hear anything like Levde in there”
“Det var en gång en /kung/prins/prinsessa/fattig pojke/ som” is the standard way to open a fairy tale. Only if we wanted to say where or how they lived would we add “bodde” or “levde”.
