I haven’t ever heard the word “Züge” used in this way; is this relatively common?
I think in this context (facial features) it is common and i had no idea about an alternative in this context. I checked ᐅ Züge Synonym | Alle Synonyme - Bedeutungen - Ähnliche Wörter and none of the words from this site are better in this sentence (Maybe Gesichtszüge).
You might have a look at https://www.dwds.de/wb/Gesichtszug if you wan’t to know how common the word is. But this is just a tendency, because the statistics used by dwds are from written language.
