Dans ma trousse, j'ai une gomme.

English Translation

In my pencil case, I have a rubber.

This might be an American thing, but I’ve never heard an eraser called a “rubber” (that word having an entirely different meaning).

Hi @Swifter8659,

It’s a US/UK thing, rubber being used mostly in the UK afaik.

If it makes you feel any better, we actually have a similar thing going on between France and Québec in this case  :

une gomme = used in France
une efface = used in Québec

The word gomme is also used in Québec, but it means chewing-gum.

Language… :man_shrugging:
