Common Ear lifetime subscription?

I just read the email about Common Ear and I am very excited! I already have a question - will there be a possibility of lifetime subscription, like with Clozemaster?

Thanks for asking the same thing I was thinking.

I haven’t received this e-mail. What is it about?

The e-mail is an announcement of this new service that is currently being built -

https://www.commonear.com/

The e-mail was sent to people who had previously used the Cloze Listening feature.

N.B. The e-mail also contains a discount code (valid until 8th November) for anyone who wishes to sign up for the paid service.

Thanks for the response. Will cloze listenining feature still be available on Clozemaster app, right?

I guess this is something @mike should clarify. From the email I understand that cloze listening will be moved to a separate platform, so would seem logical that it will be either removed from Clozemaster, or it will simply not receive any more support or updates. But it’s not 100% clear, so I’d wait for further information.

Thanks for the post! We’re excited to have you all trying it out, and I’m personally also super excited about it - listening comprehension is the skill I usually struggle with the most.

Most likely, but I don’t have a specific timeline at the moment.

Right!

This one. Cloze-Listening is already only available for users who have played it in the past (ie no longer available for new users), but we have no plans or reason to remove it entirely for the foreseeable future.

We will, however, most likely be focusing on Common Ear with respect to using the content from Common Voice in the short term - a separate platform gives us a bunch more flexibility to build cool/useful listening specific features.

The code is COMMONEARFIRST for anyone who’d like to use it.

Thanks a lot @mike for your clarifications! I would love to try it, but unfortunately the language I am learning (Greek) is not available yet. Also, I would like to support this idea by paying for the lifetime subscription, just like I did with Clozemaster, but that’s also not available yet. So I guess I have to wait for now, but I am sure it’s going to be worth it!

Thanks for the reply! Greek is now available. Will let you know if/when a one-time/lifetime purchase options becomes available.

I go along with your thinking Hyacinthe.

Wow, @mike that was fast! Thank you! I tried and I really like it! Few comments I’d have already is that it would benefit from some form of a feedback for specific sentences, just like on Clozemaster. Some of the sentences I tried have small typos and punctuation mistakes, but there’s no way of reporting them or warning other users. Another thing I would love to see is the option of only hearing the sentence (without the translation) and then have the translation automatically appear after I answer (again, just like on Clozemaster). At the moment I can either see the translation all the time, or not see it at all.

But it’s great, looking forward to seeing how it grows!

It looks very interesting, I’m waiting for the English language to be available to try it.

I just got the email about common ear this morning. Hebrew is the main language I’m learning and its ot available yet but thankfully ive been learning greek too. While im not very good with greek yet at all, it gave me the chance to try out common ear. I like it! When hebrew becomes available, i will definitely be trying out the free version some more. (Too hard for me for greek at the moment!)

I would also seriously consider a lifetime subscription if one becomes available. I already have a lifetime subscription for clozemaster and it was money well spent.

Thanks to Mike and the team for such awesome language learning products!
