Who was the winner?
Does anyone know if there’s any difference at all in meaning or context between this and “chi era il vincitore”? Or are they totally interchangeable?
Hi Vincent. The only way I remember (and more or less understand) is that è stato refers to a definite time in the past or a particular event, and era refers to a continuous action or something that would regularly happen in the past.
“La festa ieri è stata divertente”. Completed.
“Ero a casa ieri”, “Giocavo spesso in spiaggia”. Ongoing, used to happen.
This is a bit clumsy, other suggestions more than welcome.
