This is more for other students, whose first language may not be English. Either “Don’t GET mad” or “Don’t BE angry” is better English idiomatically. Don’t be mad sounds wrong to my English ears.

PS - I should perhaps say not that it’s not exactly “wrong” - but I would use it less frequently than the other options I’ve mentioned.
