I have some sentences that are really hard to remember for some reason (actually I know the reason - it’s idiomatic or words/expressions that I have not come across anywhere and do not resemble other words to trigger memory). Some of these sentences, I have played 20+ times, I am sure, and I still draw a blank when I see it next.
I am thinking I need to incorporate writing these sentences by hands to help with memory. If you have any tips, please share!
If you get the sentence wrong, try to see it again within the next 15 minutes, not the next day.
Take a look at the forgetting curve.
I don’t know how you practice, but it might be that you just let too much time pass between your attempts at this sentence.

The forgetting curve is really helpful to know about! It’s true that at times I let too much time pass, but it’s still hard even when I see them again the next day. I will try putting them in a collection and reviewing them very soon after. Thanks for the tip!
Assuming you use the iOS/Android app (and not the website) and you practice with the multiple choice format, you should click the clock icon after answering the sentence. This will open a menu that allows you to reset the sentence to 0%.
If you don’t do that, the app will assume you knew the answer and increase the interval, which of course leads to the problem you’re having.
Suggestion: Always reset the sentence to 0% if you struggled with the sentence and your problem should solve itself within a very short time.

That’s cleaver! I never thought of resetting something to 0% but it makes sense as it will resurface the sentence right away. I actually do text input, mostly on website, but I know which option you are talking about it, and it’s possible on website. Will definitely try that. Thank you.

On the website you can press the keyboard shortcut “Alt r” to reset a sentence to 0%. It’s one of my most used keyboard shortcuts.
