What’s the English translation given? I’d guess “Going to church makes you no more a Christian than standing in a garage makes you a car.”

It seems understandable in English, but a bit confusing in French, particularly the order of “davantage de toi”. I’d probably be inclined to reverse them: “de toi davantage”.

I believe the second “ne” is expletive.
